Have you ever considered installing a safe room in your home? Some get inspired to do this by watching disaster movies or seeing news about home invasions. It might seem like a bit paranoid, but the reality of the world we live in is that both crime rates and natural disasters are on the rise, so a safe room could be beneficial.

Before you start considering having a safe room installed, however, you should make sure that you plan to have it in the right spot. When there is a home invasion, you don’t want to be required to cross the path of a potential intruder to get to the safe room. It should be centrally located and easily accessed.

Since a safe room will be very heavy, you should also ensure that the location where it is installed has sufficient support. This is especially important if it is to double as a shelter in a disaster.
